In 1991, after many successful years working in high-technology, Mr. O’Connell started distributing individual insurance products door to door with a goal of building an agency focused on personalized solutions and the highest possible levels of service. Recognized by his team as the “Chairman”, Mr. O'Connell brings over 35 years of sales experience to The O'Connell Insurance Group, Inc.

Today, Mr. O'Connell’s primary focus is Property & Casualty solutions for small to mid-market employers. He continues to deliver a consistent level of product and business excellence to his loyal customers. His involvement in the local community has enabled him to insure a wide variety of businesses, habitational dwellings and specialty requests.

A native of South Boston and a graduate of Boston University, Mr. O’Connell still lives in the heart of “Southie” with his wife Dianne. He has five grandchildren that keep him busy when he is not at the office or on the waters of Buzzards Bay.


KEITH O'CONNELL

Keith O’Connell is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The O’Connell Insurance Group. Keith assumed this leadership position in January of 2009 after serving six years under his father’s tutelage as the Vice President of Business Development.

Since his arrival at O’Connell, Keith has led the firm through a period of dramatic revitalization, continued market share gains, and sustained double-digit growth. He has transformed O’Connell’s business model from what was a near exclusive focus on individual products such as Home and Auto policies to what is now the region’s most comprehensive portfolio of Financial Services.

Keith started in the insurance industry as a Regional Group Representative with Reliance Standard Life Insurance. A graduate of UMASS and Catholic Memorial he lives in Norwell with his wife Amy and three kids Sam, Max and Charlie.

Keith currently hold his Massachusetts Property, Casualty, Life and Health licenses, and is securities licensed with his series 6 and 63.



BILL HIGGINS

Vice President and Director of Employee Benefits

As Vice President & Director of Employee Benefits Higgins is responsible for ensuring that the organization understands and communicates the distinctive value that O’Connell Insurance Group brings to all stakeholders. He is also charged with building and maintaining relationships with O’Connell Insurance Group’s largest customers, strategic partners and local vendor representatives. With an extensive background in underwriting risks, negotiating financials and implementing employee benefit plans, he also advises employers on all aspects of their health and welfare programs.

Prior to joining the firm Higgins held a variety of sales and management positions within the employee benefits industry. In his most recent position as V.P. of Business Development for a regional brokerage firm he was responsible for training and managing a team that consistently exceeded sales targets. In 1993 he started his insurance career with SunLife of Canada where he was responsible for developing brokers in the Chicago area.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Colby College where he earned a BA in History. A product of Thayer Academy, he lives in Hingham with his wife Lauren and children Frank, Jake and Alexandra.
